Adventures in cooking and no-sew fleece blankets
I wanted to try and make hard rock candy. I always loved it when I was younger. I bought all the necessary ingredients and stepped into the world of hard candy. Well, the first batch did not turn out very well. I let it cook to long and it started to carmelize. Then in my rush to take it off the heat I forgot to butter the foil. Then I talked to my mom who said that I needed cinnamon oil not extract! I did not let this deter me! My second batch turned out a little better. I put in more cinnamon and did not let it cook as long. Eric says that it tastes good, but I really think he is playing the role of appeasing husband! I am in search of cinnamon oil. Does anyone know where I would buy it?
Since I was in the cooking mood. I also made puppy chow and homemade chocolate chip cookies! I can easily handle both recipes!!
On my side of the family we have a gift exchange every year. This year I decided that I wanted to make the no-sew fleece blankets with tied sides. We bought the material yesterday and I realized that I might have "bitten off more than I can chew" for this project. I did get one blanket completed last night in almost 5 hours! I don’t really know if I did it right or not, but it is more about the love going into them than the look…right? I might be going home to enlist the help of my mom! I will keep you informed on the progress and the recipients’ responses.
