Harry Potter
So when the Harry Potter phenomenon started I didn’t want to read the books because EVERYONE was reading them. Well…last summer I was really needing something to read so I went to the library and checked Harry out. I wanted to see what the big fuss was all about. Needless to say I can start to understand. I love to read and I love to be taken to other worlds and places. These books do that! They are descriptive and I can see them in my head.
One thing I don’t understand is the "churches" view of it. Are they afraid of make believe and fantasy? Because for me I can see God and His amazing story in it. Good vs. Evil, etc. I am a Christian, yet there are many who say they are christian and will look down on me because I read Harry Potter. Someone even told my brother who is 13 that the books are evil and that they are from Satan. I mean come on!!! If someone teaches their child right from wrong and real life from fiction then these books cannot make a child/adult just suddenly change their beliefs. I have seen many preachers use references from Harry Potter in their sermons not to say how bad it is for us, but using it in a positve light.
So all that to say that my brother, John; Eric and I went to the Harry Potter Grand Hallows Ball last night at the Borders book store. People dressed up like the characters. there were games and debates about certain characters. It was actually a lot of fun. My brother and I got the final book in the Harry Potter series. I am excited to read it and part of me doesn’t want to start because it is the last one. Well…here I go once again on my journey into Hogwarts and the land of the Harry Potter phenomenon!!!
