Olivia had her 6 week check up this week. She is doing very well. She is now 10 lbs 11 oz and 22 3/4 inches. She also had to get her first shots. It was rough for the both of us! Although the hardest part was when she woke up (about 3 hours post shots) from her nap and was screaming in pain! That was when I wanted to cry too!!! We gave her some tylenol and she ate. Her poor little thighs were swollen, red and warm to the touch! About 30 minutes later she was doing much better!
She is smiling a lot now too! Sometimes it seems like she wants to laugh she is smiling so big! I hope to get some pictures posted soon. I need to get them off the camera.

It is so hard for me to believe that she is already one month old. It is amazing watching her change and develop her own personality. She is now focusing more when someone is talking to her. She is very happy in the mornings. This morning she was looking around, smiling and she started cooing.
We went to the doctor on Wednesday to have the skin under her tongue clipped. Eric as well as his brother and nephew all had the same thing, called tongue tied. It keeps the person from sticking the tongue out and it can affect speech. We decided to have it done now so she can’t remember it. She did wonderfully during the procedure, which is done right there in the doctor’s office. Her cries were more of an annoyance that someone was in her mouth and not cries of pain.
Yesterday Olivia and I went to our first MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting. It went well. It was definitely different being out with the moms and not taking care of the children.
The biggest update is that Olivia is taking a pacifier. She did well with one at the hospital, but the moment we were home she refused. Now this would not have been a bad thing except from about 10pm-1am is Olivia’s fussy time. She just cries and cries. Yesterday she was pretty fussy and one of the other mom’s from MOPS was holding her and asked about a pacifier. She had a clean pacifier and asked if she could try it on Olivia. Olivia not only took the pacifer, but has continued to do well on it. The best part of this story is that last night Olivia did not have any fussy or crying spells. We actually slept 4 hours last night!!! That has not happened in over a month!!!
I tried to put a picture into this post, but I can’t figure out how to do it. I also updated the photo gallery in January 2009 and February 2009.
